This week is going great! All of the students are fantastic, and I am excited about what this year will bring! It has only been 3 days, and we have already written two poems, learned our divisibility rules, discovered physical properties, learned how to draw the continents and oceans in under 1 minute, and so much more. Most importantly, we are learning about respect and how we can learn from each other! I will try to remember to take pictures of the kids working hard and post them tomorrow.
On another note, the tragic earthquake in Virginia has stirred up some great scientific conversations between the students. Even though we will do Earth science later in the year, I love that they are interested now. I have posted a link that will explain the Earth's tectonic plates, and another link about how the plates moved in this last earthquake.

Thank you for bringing current events into your classroom. Our students will never forget this! They will already have knowledge that they can relate to Earth Science later. Nature always gives us teaching moments that won't wait :)
