A quote worthy to inspire us all...

Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.
~ William Butler Yeats

Producers, Consumers, Decomposers

All living organisms fall into a category of either a producer, consumer, or decomposer.  We have talked about the different classifications in class.  Practice putting the living organisms in the right place using this game:

Sample Spaces

We have started our probability unit in math!  We are starting with our sample spaces and making lists and tree diagrams of all of our possible outcomes.  This is a cool website that explains the concept and has practice too!

Tell the Truth!

On Monday, the class learned about another form of writing: expository, which is informative text. The students learned that expository writing may be found everywhere; newspapers, encyclopedias, Internet and so on... It is important for them to learn the many perspectives of text which is presented and knowledge of how to distinguish between them. I was delighted to experience their interest in a different facet of literature and how well they did on their versions of nonfiction bursting with newfound intelligence!

Great Day at the Witte!

Today was so much fun at the Witte! The students were included in a Science presentation of how chemicals mix while we discussed the properties of matter. I believe hands-on participation makes such a difference! :)
